Before You Sign
- SERVICES
- Are services (especially health care services) clearly defined in a way understood by both the provider and the resident?
- STANDARDS
- Does the contract include clear standards for the quality of services, who the actual providers will be and where services will be delivered?
- FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS
- To what extent can the community increase fees or add on additional fees from time to time? If fee increases are greater than the resident's ability to pay what happens?
- TRANSFERS
- Does the contract define the reasons a resident may be moved from an independent living unit to another level of care or to the health care facility? Who makes the final decision?
- TERMINATION
- Are grounds for terminating the contract and procedures for doing so stated clearly? What recourse do residents have if there is a disagreement?
